Upgrading a 7800 for modern times - Mark - 08-22-2026

I recently purchased a 7800 via eBay after being successful with a cheeky bid. I've never had or used one but always interested in the concept and have had many other ataris over the years from a 2600, 8bit computers and a few ST's.

Over the coming weeks I will be modifying the console to allow me to use on a modern TV, look at what repairs, if any are needed and look for a multi cart that addresses the pokey challenges of a couple of cart having pokey chips installed.

I haven't decided if I should video the progress or just document with some photos, let me know what you'd like to see?

Cheers
Mark

I have all the parts now to move forward and need to find a few of my tools such as a solder sucker. Recently moved and still have a lot of my stuff in boxes...  Maybe I should have focused on unpacking before this but here we are   Smile

I need to find a decent pair of wire snippers, pliers, solder sucker, solder iron etc. Think I have all bar a small wire snippers but let's see how it will go. I will try and video the process but that is all new to me so bare with me...

Wish me luck!

Mark

Unboxed and had a closer look at what I've purchased.

Console and games look in nice condition but the power cable seems to have an issue? What's under the tape I wonder?!
